I haven't had any Colloquium Drawings of the Week recently, because I haven't been going to any colloquia, at least not any mandatory ones.

But I did draw this robot, so enjoy.

Not really much of a "drawing." I was really bored, and decided to see if I could draw from memory all of the states and their general shapes. I can! (The trick is starting in the confederacy, all of those need to be the right shapes or else they throw off the rest of the proportions; and starting with an outline is a terrible idea.)

Europe? Not so much. I know what Scandinavia looks like (even though I didn't draw it in). Obviously I got started in the wrong place and ended up having to make Germany much too wide. And don't get me started with the southeast. Bulgaria? I doubt it.

The crab ended up alright though.

Further continuation of my Colloquium Drawing series. Not in anyway coherent, but the puffer fish are fun to draw. Also, the lecturer was actually pretty interesting, so I was, unfortunately, somewhat distracted by the talk itself. A friend of mine who could barely contain his giggling and made various requests like "draw a lobster!" was quite interested in having it, as long as I signed and dated it first! If I hadn't known I'd be giving it away, I would have made the diver a skeleton, so it seems that he saved his life...at least for now.

Colloquium Drawing of the Week 2

As I have recently mentioned, I am now providing a rare, weekly, glimpse into my twisted mind. Here is the second one. It features aliens (or robots) destroying an obviously misdrawn U.S. Capital building. At first I worried that it would be possible to misconstrue some kind of political overtone to this, but after careful thought, I realized that I had no idea what that overtone would be. Other than pro-Alien/Robot, which I make no secret of anyway.

New Feature: Colloquium Drawing of the Week

To keep myself from being bored out of my mind for an hour each friday afternoon I have instituted a weekly illustration interval. It isn't that I don't enjoy hearing long lectures about topics that I find interesting roughly a third of the time, it's that I need a designated time to further develop my obvious drawing skills. I've also decided to post them in weekly installments. Here is the one for the week before this one. Last week's will be posted soon. Note how it is unclear whether the squid is attacking or being attacked. This is supposed to encourage a feeling of unrest and internal conflict in the viewer.
